25 hours a week

(working weeks – 52 weeks a year with 20 days’ annual leave and a further 8 days for statutory holidays / bank holidays)

 (Hours during school holidays can be flexible – with negotiation)

Daily hours 7.30am – 12.30am Monday to Friday.

Pay scale: (NJC) Grade 3 £23,893 per annum

Would you be interested in supporting the work of our school by carrying out the essential role of Caretaker within a friendly, welcoming and caring school community.

The role of Caretaker is a varied one but vital to the smooth running of the school. Duties include:

·       Key holder for school, responsible for unlocking the premises on a day-to-day basis from 7.30 am so that staff can enter the building.

·       To perform a daily check of the school site ensuring entrances and pathways are clear and safe (including the removal of ice and snow in the winter)

·       Carrying out light site maintenance work including weeding, watering of plant areas around the school, removal of broken equipment and ensuring the whole school site is presentable and safe to use.

·       Carrying out regular boiler checks and fire alarm checks as required.

·       Bring in any deliveries that are left at the school entrance in the early morning.

·       Ensuring the school bins are out and available on the day of emptying.

·       To take part in light cleaning duties to ensure the school is clean and tidy and that it is in line with all health and safety guidelines and procedures.

·       To carry out any further roles that are deemed to be within the role as directed by the Head teacher

This role operates throughout the year. Hours of work within the school holidays may vary with negotiation to ensure that tasks are carried out. This may include more flexible working hours in the school holidays. Additional emergency call out pay may be awarded with negotiation with the SLT team and successful candidate.

Training is offered to support the role

Successful candidates will be subject to:

·       An enhanced DBS and barring check

·       Be in receipt of two references.

·       Willing to complete health and wellbeing questionnaire.
